FAQ's

How do i go about placing an order?
To start the order process please fill out the form below or send me an email containing
all the following information: the date of your event, the occasion/nature of your event
(anniversary, baby shower, birthday, wedding, etc), the event location (including delivery
address and delivery time), how many people you need to serve, a daytime phone number
and an idea of what kind of cake design you are looking for

How much time before an event do i need to place an order?
In order to assure availability, we recommend that orders be placed at least two to three weeks prior to any event. for wedding cakes we recommend, at least, two to four months prior to the wedding

How long does it take to receive a response?
We will contact you within 48 hours to discuss your order unless stated other wise,
(please note the 48 hours do not include holiday weekdays or weekends)

What are your hours of operation?
We are open by appointment only and because every item is custom made to order we do
not have any pre-made items for sale

On average how far in advance of the event do you prepare the product?
Usually baking begins the evening prior to the event because freshness is of utmost importance, gumpaste and fondant details may be prepared two or three days
prior to the event to ensure proper drying

What forms of payment do you take?
We accept cash, check and credit card payments
Please note cash and check payments are only accepted for any discounted item(s)

Do you provide special dietary products, if so what kind?
Yes, our dietary product menu includes: casein, dairy, gluten and nut free items

Do you provide tastings, if so is there a fee and what are your hours?
We provide bridal tastings only, these are done privately and by appointment only.
A tasting is for the purpose of sampling the quality rather than every flavor offered therefor we will bake up to three custom cake and buttercream flavors for you. A $25.00 tasting
deposit is required to reserve your place, once your cake is order the deposit will be
applied to the final cost

What do i need to bring to the consultation/tasting?
Please come prepared and bring 2 or 3 design choices. You may choose from any magazine photos, images from websites or your own design. bring your color swatches (i.e. ribbon or
paint chips), lace or wedding invitations. Anything you intend to incorporate into your cake
we will need to see! If you choose to order with Forget Me Not Baking you will need to be
prepared to remit a 25% non-refundable deposit which reserves our services for your
special day.

Can i order my wedding cake from you and a groom's cake from someone else?
No, this is a quality control issue and since we cannot guarantee the quality of someone else's
work we have a strict policy against the mixing of cake vendors, including cupcakes. The cake is all cut and served in the end and there is no differentiating what slice came from whom.
If someone was to get sick or simply not enjoy the taste/look of the secondary
vendor's cake they would not necessarily know that it wasn't provided by the same company
that you hired to create your wedding cake

What kind of deposit do you require for orders?
wedding cakes and cupcakes - a 25% non-refundable deposit is required to hold your date,
please note your date CANNOT BE HELD without a deposit. orders under $250.00 are due
in-full at the time of booking with the full balance due 30 days prior to the date of your wedding
all other forget me not baking orders - a 50% deposit is required on all orders over $250.00 and the full balance is due 2 weeks prior to the date of your event

How many cakes do you schedule for a typical weekend?
We try to limit the number of cakes per weekend to 3, scheduling too many cakes would not allow for the time and attention to detail that is required to make each cake a masterpiece

Which are you most popular flavors?
Vanilla with strawberry cream and chocolate chocolate are at the top of the list.
Other very popular combinations are chocolate with raspberry filling, carrot with cream
cheese filling, red velvet with chocolate ganache, lemon with blueberry filling and our 5 flavor pound cake

What is the difference between buttercream and fondant?
Buttercream is a more traditional icing, it is creamy and decorated with spatulas and piping.
Fondant is a sugar-based substitution used to cover cakes, it can easily be molded and colored to
form different designs, textures, matte surfaces, pearls or edible elements

Do prices include fresh flowers for wedding cakes?
No, you will need to order your flowers through your florist. You get the best price that way
and you are sure the flowers will match. We will provide any handmade sugar paste
flowers, sugared fruit, etc. that you may choose
